Dear Friends of Angel Animals,

Our little bird Sunshine is very old in bird years. Cockatiels are only supposed to have a lifespan of fifteen years. He's going on sixteen now.
 
Lately he has not been able to fly. Till now, every morning, we would take him out of his cage, and he'd fly to the mantel. There, he likes to walk back and forth, have a bath in warm water in a shallow bowl, look out the window, and sing to the outdoor birds. We love listening to him imitate their calls.
 
But now when we put him on our fingers, instead of flying, he falls. We have to be very careful, so he doesn't hurt himself. It's a sad struggle to keep him from trying to fly. He wants to do everything he always has done.
 
We empathize. Sometimes, we feel the age of our bodies and realize that adjustments are necessary. But Sunshine is teaching us to keep on flying.
